Gerard Pique has been in the media a lot recently, and it hasn’t been because of great performances for FC Barcelona, or the Spanish national team. It’s been because of his jarring accusations towards Real Madrid and club president Florentino Perez.

Oh Pique, why do you have to go out and make yourself a target for so, so much criticism and hate from Real Madrid fans? Following Spain’s win over France Tuesday, Pique made some pretty harsh comments about Real Madrid.

The 30 year-old center back said he would never even consider a move to Real Madrid, also adding, “The thing I don’t like about Madrid is its directors’ boxes, the things that happen there: accusations for Messi, Neymar and nothing for Ronaldo.”

“We all know what goes on in the Madrid box, it’s always been like that. I consider all of Madrid’s players friends, but as a club, what do you want me to say?”

Well, I’d say it’s pretty clear to whom Pique is referencing here but wait, he didn’t stop there, “Is it the judge who accuses, not Madrid? Well, we know who it is, and how it all works. That’s how I feel. I’m not going to argue about this.”

Florentino Perez, as well as captain Sergio Ramos, did not take kindly to the comments made by Pique, with Ramos saying in response to the center back’s remarks, “What Pique says won’t change the values, our badge, our history or our titles. What he says will provoke headlines and sell newspapers but we live off of that.”

In comes Florentino Perez to defend his name and the Real Madrid name, responding with, “Welcome to a place where only the sporting values matter,” said the president before the event with Telefonica started. “Our club is respected because of the values and the principles on its DNA,” he added.

Reports indicate that Perez and his legal representatives for Real Madrid are looking into the comments made by Pique and could look to take legal action against him for the inflammatory comments.

While the reports are merely reports, Sergio is right, this does create a great a headline and for that, Pique, I thank you.
