Real Madrid have one of their world’s strongest midfields, but who has been the best of the bunch so far in 2019-2020?

Although the future of the 2019-2020 La Liga and Champions League campaigns is unclear, Real Madrid have enjoyed a successful season in Zinedine Zidane’s second stint as manager of the club. Zidane has overcome two serious injuries to big summer signing Eden Hazard, as well as a host of other injuries, and has Los Blancos back in a position to compete for titles after a poor 2018-2019.

The defense has been excellent under Zidane, and the manager is also getting the most out of a talented midfield. Veteran players like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have been producing at a high level in bounce-back seasons, while Fede Valverde has proven to be a massive breakout star as a box-to-box midfielder.

Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Casemiro can lay claim to being the team’s MVP alongside goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, and Isco and James Rodriguez had their moments in the attacking midfield.

But who was the best midfielder for Real Madrid? What final grade should each player receive? Let’s take some time to grade each midfielder based on their performances in the 2019-2020 season thus far.
