Barcelona and Real Madrid look set to contest a very tight La Liga title race this season. The Catalan side are leading by two points right now, but that is largely down to the fact that Los Blancos went through a bad patch of form right before the World Cup break, as it looked like injuries and fatigue had caught up to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

In that regard, the World Cup break might have come at just the right time for them, as they were struggling to get results in the weeks leading up to it. Hopefully, we will see them back in full flow when club football returns.

At the same time though, it is not just on the pitch that Real Madrid and Barcelona were believed to be competing, as both were linked with a move for Brazilian wonderkid, Endrick, who has been hyped up as the best player to come out of the South American country since Neymar Jr.

Xavi has even publicly talked about the 16-year-old. But as reported by Marca, Barcelona are not in the running to sign Endrick, as they feel that they cannot afford to consider a deal of this kind with their present financial situation.

Barcelona have handed a transfer boost to Real Madrid in the race to sign Endrick

Endrick might be just 16 years of age, but it is expected to take a huge transfer fee to sign him from Palmeiras.

There is believed to be a €60 million release clause in his current deal with Palmeiras and if rumours are to be believed then both PSG and Chelsea might be willing to trigger that.

Now, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid are prepared to do so or not. That is an extraordinary amount to shell out to sign a 16-year-old though.
