Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are both in the hunt for talented 21 year-old Manchester United midfielder Anthony Marital, who is worth a reported £60 million. United have been reported as saying they are “considering selling” the quick, skillful attacking midfielder who has been in and out of United manager Jose Mourinho’s starting XI all season with spotty play.
First reported by Ken Lawerence from The Sun, reports indicate that the former Real Madrid manager, Mourinho, wants to make a swap deal, James Rodriguez for Martial. Mourinho who was trying to swoop several Real Madrid players during the summer window still appears to been keen to get another one and the thought of a James for Martial swap could also intrigue Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane due to the Colombian’s recent run of poor form and Martial being French.

Martial, who just recently arrived to Manchester last season from Monaco, for an estimated £36 million, has seen his production and value steadily decrease with Mourinho deciding to play Wayne Rooney or playing a 4-3-3 which doesn’t feature an attacking midfielder.
Martial was brought in by former Manchester Unite manager Louis Van Gaal who was fired after two seasons with the club and now with a new manager, the young newly transferred Frenchmen is uncertain if he has a starting role at the club.
In some cases, Martial has played on the front line as a left wing, in the same position as Cristiano Ronaldo, and in only three appearances, has two goals and an assist. As an attacking midfielder, Martial has made seven appearances this season (Premier League, Europa League, Community Shield, and EFL Cup) scoring 3 goals and contributing 3 assists.
Martial lost the No. 9 shirt to Zlatan Ibrahimovic with his transfer to England over the summer causing him to have less of a role. Last season, Martial scored 11 goals and had 4 assists in 31 Premier League appearances, serving as the go to guy up top for Van Gaal.
With both James and Martial falling out of favor at their respective clubs, both the young talented midfielders could go for a change in clubs in order to revamp their careers.
