Juventus 0 – Real Madrid 3: Quick recap of the dominating UCL win
By Ben Sundock
Second Half
The second half began with Juventus pushing back by controlling possession and looking to hold the ball in the attacking third. However, they were unable to create any quality chances.
Sergio Ramos picked up a yellow card which will see him miss the second leg next week due to yellow card accumulation. The play where he received the card was a bit surprising as he bumped Dybala in the back and was slapped across the face while the attacking midfielder fell to the ground.
The ensuing free-kick from Juve took a nasty deflection off the Real Madrid line and narrowly missed the net.
In the 64th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo scored one of the best goals you will ever see, and a goal that took him 16 years to pull off.
The GOAT tracked down the loose ball that trickled past Buffon, played it back into the middle for Lucas Vazquez, but saw the shot blocked by the Italian keeper.
The rebound deflected right to the waiting Dani Carvajal who then crossed the ball perfectly for Ronaldo who then bicycle kicked it into the corner with Gigi helplessly watching.
This goal from CR7 goes into the top five best of his career and has left Real Madrid fans and fans of the game awe-struck on Twitter.
Ronaldo wasn’t done there as after Dybala was sent off for cleating Dani Carvajal in the stomach, Ronaldo linked up perfectly with Marcelo to get the third goal and his second in the UCL this season.
Real Madrid nearly made it 4-0 as Mateo Kovacic hit the crossbar in the final minutes. On the other end, Navas made another big save on the former Real striker, Higuain, and picked up his 10th clean sheet in all competitions this season.
Real Madrid will carry a comfortable three goal lead into the home leg and will not have to deal with Paulo Dybala who will be suspended.
This is just the seventh match Juventus has lost at home in the last seven years and is their biggest defeat in European competition ever.
Real Madrid own the Champions League.
