Real Madrid are taking on Leganes in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabéu. Here are three things to watch for ahead of the clash.
1. Will Real Madrid avenge their Copa del Rey loss?
Leganes have given Real Madrid some problems already this season, eliminating Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. Real Madrid beat Leganes away with a 1-0 scoreline, but Leganes came back against Los Blancos 2-1 in the Bernabéu to knock Real Madrid from the tournament on away goal advantage.
In that match, Zinedine Zidane fielded a heavily rotated lineup, opting to leave Bale and Ronaldo entirely out of the squad. Leganes punished Madrid for their complacency, and Zidane found himself without any serious options for changing the match late in the game. While you have to credit Zidane for giving the squad players a run out in the Copa del Rey, given that Madrid were already so far behind in the League and the Copa del Rey was Madrid’s best chance for silverware at the time, this was a strategic error on Zizou’s part.

Real Madrid may be hoping to get revenge on Leganes for their unceremonious exit from the Copa del Rey. But Zidane will definitely have one eye on the upcoming midweek fixture against Bayern in the Champions League.
