Portugal

Portugal has made their way through to the Round of 16 but it was a close call. In their last game against Iran, they needed either a win or a draw and a late come back from Iran almost saw Ronaldo head home.

Their first game was an absolute thriller as they played Spain, the match ended in a 3-3 draw. From there Portugal would struggle just narrowly squeeze by Morocco and then Iran. Cristiano Ronaldo would get the job done for his country yet again. Portugal will play Uruguay on June 30 in the Round of 16.

Cristiano Ronaldo

On the first full day of the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo would steal all the headlines. The Portugal versus Spain match was the highlight fixture of the day and it was certainly one to remember. Cristiano Ronaldo would score a penalty, a free kick and a left footed shot from outside of the box. Beating the world class David De Gea three times in one game Ronaldo’s impact could not be minimized.

In the second game versus Morocco, Cristiano Ronaldo would strike yet again. In the first half, he would put away a powerful header into the back of the net. Out of the three games in the group stage, Ronaldo would be awarded the Man of the Match twice.
