Real Madrid Player Ratings from 2-1 win over Alaves
GK Alphonse Areola
Alphonse Areola hadn’t started in goal since the game against Granada before the October international break, but he surprisingly received the nod in this game. He didn’t disappoint, looking as commanding as ever. He also made a crucial save near the end of the game, showing great reflexes before securely holding onto the ball so that none of the many Alaves players hovering around the six-yard box could pick up the rebound.
Rating: 6.5 out of 10
LB Marcelo
Marcelo had some lapses defensively, but he was never exposed by Aleix Vidal, who seemed more interested in trying to get foul calls than actually providing anything of service for Alaves. Meanwhile, Marcelo provided plenty of service for his forwards, sending in several delightful cross-field passes to Gareth Bale. There are few better passers in the world than the technically brilliant Marcelo.
Rating: 7.0 out of 10
CB Sergio Ramos
While Sergio Ramos scored the game’s first goal by directing home a wonderful set piece from midfield maestro Toni Kroos, he was awful in this game. Ramos could have easily given up more than one penalty in this game, but his foul on Joselu was quite atrocious. It was a totally unnecessary and brainless play from the captain, who made so many mistakes defensively today. A game to forget for the Spain star.
