Federico Valverde

Fede Valverde is one of the most brilliant signings that the club has signed in recent years, thanks to Juni Calafat, the member of the scouting team who brought the Uruguayan in 2016 from Penarol. Valverde played in Castilla under former Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari, where he was a regular starter and an important part of the midfield. Later he was loaned to Deportivo de La Coruña for one year, in the 2018-19 season Valverde was back in Madrid.

Valverde became a regular starter for Zidane in the 2019-2020 La Liga season. He made 33 appearances as a starter or coming off the bench. Valverde earned respect at the Bernabeu. Fans chanted name for the passion he showed in all these games for Real. He won several Man of the Match awards in important knocks like Clasicos and derbies.

Valverde was starting ahead of Balon D’or winner Luka Modric and showed his potential. His passing abilities are good, his pace helped Madrid in counter-attacks, he also helps the backline of Madrid numerous time, and no need to mention what happened on that night in Jeddah. Under Zidane, Valverde gave surprising performances. He earned trust from the club and fans.

Expectations from Valverde is to maintain consistency with his performances. His form was not up to the mark after La Liga resumed in June. Luka Modric played most of the part after the league resumed.

But this is not the end. Valverde will be a regular starter in Madrid in the coming years. With Martin Ødegaard back in Madrid, Valverde’s position might change. He is young. He can adapt to a new position easily. The stagger performances he gave last season if he continues with the same pace and energy he will carve his name on Bernabeu as one the best midfielders to play in Madrid.

As a fan of his, I always wanted him to start ahead of Modric, and watching him play brings me immense joy. I want him to succeed here in Madrid.
