2. Real Madrid will keep a clean sheet

Real Madrid played against Real Sociedad three times in the 2019-2020 season. In none of those games, did they keep a clean sheet. La Real scored first in Madrid’s 3-1 win last November, due to a sloppy error from Sergio Ramos. They put four past Los Blancos in the Copa del Rey. And this summer, Adnan Januzaj scored a great goal as Sociedad kept it close in an eventual 2-1 loss.

This weekend, Los Blancos will make a statement in their 2020-2021 La Liga season opener. Zinedine Zidane’s side will not take their status as defending champions of the league for granted. They want to prove they are the best and know ever title must be earned. So look for them to be extra organized and tight defensively, with Raphael Varane having the biggest point to prove after the way his Champions League campaign ended at Manchester City.

Real Madrid had the best defense in European football last season, allowing fewer goals than anybody. Zidane has immediately transformed this unit into the league’s best, even ahead of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Alexander Isak, Mikel Oyarzabal, Portu, and new signing David Silva will make life difficult, but Los Blancos will do what’s needed to keep La Real away from the back of the net.
