Real Madrid CF Karim Benzema

We finally come to the main man up top, Karim Benzema. The world-class No. 9 is the only forward Real Madrid can truly rely on. He is Real’s only player with more than three goals in La Liga so far this season, and his eight goals are four times more than the next-best forward. His five assists are first, too, and no healthy Madrid player has more than two (Rodrygo Goes has four but is injured).

I cannot think of a striker who means more to his team than Benzema does to Real Madrid. And that’s including Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland! Benzema’s all-around play means Real’s reliance on him is even more profound, and while that speaks to Benz’s quality, it also speaks to how dire Real’s attacking situation is.

Hopefully, I’ll be writing glowing articles about Eden Hazard again, but the reality is that Los Blancos cannot rely on the Belgian due to the injuries. Therefore, Benzema is the man who must lead the way for Real’s mercurial attack. Marco Asensio is another player who can buoy the Merengue club in these last winter months, but, again, the same story of inconsistency applies to the Andalusian, too.

Benzema is a player Madridistas cannot take for granted for one second. The legendary French striker draws effusive praise from his peers, and he must produce in a way that matches the praise he receives, otherwise Real Madrid could be in even bigger trouble.
