3. FEDERICO VALVERDE

Federico Valverde has been coined as Real Madrid’s new golden boy following James Rodriguez’s departure. Valverde was instrumental in Real’s La Liga campaign in the 2019/20 season and his last-ditch tackle on Alvaro Morata in the Spanish Super Cup final has been etched into the history books of the club.

Valverde easily transformed into a fan favourite at the club and his performances have only gotten better with time. As a box-to-box midfielder, the South American is easily one of the most promising youngsters simply due to his effortless and relentless style of play.

Currently, the 23-year-old is valued at 65 million euros after his valuation fell by five million following a mixed and injury-ridden 2021-22 season. In all fairness, Valverde was still impressive last season and performed extremely well against tough sides such as Barcelona and Liverpool.

However, since the club as a whole was quite inconsistent last season, it’s only obvious that Fede’s value on the transfer market would decrease. Nonetheless, the Uruguayan international is still one of the club’s most important players and this could be a key season for him to secure more game time with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos catching up with age.
