Real Madrid attacking prospect Cesar Gelabert is one of the most promising players on Castilla, but since his contract is expiring, top clubs around Europe are on the lookout.

Florentino Perez has been busy adding the best young players in the world to Real Madrid, having recently signed center attacking midfielder Reiner Jesus from Flamengo to Castilla in the winter transfer window for a mere 30 million euros.

However, Los Merengues could lose a top player at Castilla who is also known at an attacking midfielder with the versatility to play on the wings, like Isco and Marco Asensio.

According to a report from Eduardo Cornaga of AS, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and Lyon are all interested in Cesar Gelabert, who is a regular starter for the Spanish U19 national team.

Lyon, per the report, have even submitted a transfer offer to Real in the past for Gelabert, but Los Blancos rejected it. It appears Castilla manager Raul sees Gelabert as important to his plans.

However, the 19-year-old is on an expiring contract, as he will be a free agent at the end of the 2020-2021 season. If Real Madrid cannot sign the promising attacking player to an extension, then he will soon be free to negotiate with these clubs. The report also mentions that, as you’d expect, other teams in La Liga have interest in Gelabert.

He would be a big get for any of those three teams. Dortmund always do a great job of developing young talent, as Madridistas have seen first-hand during Achraf Hakimi‘s wildly successful two-year loan spell at the Signal Iduna Park.

Lyon are, likewise, known for developing young talent. Los Blancos striker Mariano Diaz scored 20 goals for them a couple of seasons ago, Ferland Mendy has been a huge success already after being signed from the Ligue 1 club, and Real have serious interest in Lyon’s most prized player Rayan Cherki.

As for Arsenal, Cornaga reports that their manager Mikel Arteta “watched him closely” in the past, and since he’s leading the way in North London, he appears to be responsible for Arsenal’s interest in the teenager.

The son of Juanmi, Gelabert is listed as being worth $550,000 on Transfermarkt heading into the summer of 2020 transfer window.
