Real Madrid left winger Eden Hazard may soon have the most help he’s ever had.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid in the summer 2019 transfer window as the centerpiece signing in an offseason in which Los Blancos spent around 300 million euros on upgrades. Most of the players they signed were young, up-and-comers like Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao, so Hazard was clearly the superstar of the bunch.

While Hazard’s first season at the Santiago Bernabeu didn’t go to plan due to two significant injuries, he did put in some superstar performances along the way. Hazard was, to quote Ray Hudson, magisterial against Real Sociedad and others, putting together a streak of games with over five dribbles completed in the Fall.

Hazard will head into the final games of the 2019-2020 season when La Liga returns with a renewed focus now that he’s back to full health, as he is the key to Real Madrid winning the title from rivals FC Barcelona. Rivals they outplayed, by the way, in a 2-0 March win without Hazard in the lineup.

But the 2020-2021 season is the real target for Real Madrid, since this team is built for the long haul.

Even if Real can’t make any splashy signings in the 2020 summer transfer window, the returns of loanees could give Eden Hazard by far the best supporting cast he’s ever had.

He won the Premier League in 2016-2017 and 2014-2015 at Chelsea with a few top players like Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Diego Costa, Oscar, and Willian by his side.

Real Madrid fans are undoubtedly familiar with the first three names on the list.

But even those title-winning players around Hazard can’t compare to what the Belgian could have around him in 2020-2021 if Martin Odegaard and Achraf Hakimi make their way back to the Bernabeu.

He’ll get to have those two young stars along with Isco, Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, and more.

It’s easy to take for granted how loaded Real Madrid are, and they could be even stronger if young stars like Rodrygo Goes and Luka Jovic post true breakout seasons in 2020-2021.

While the financial situation in football precludes Los Blancos from going after the world’s best players, such as Paul Pogba, this summer, they clearly aren’t hurting in the ‘star power’ department. With a loaded midfield and defense, the support behind Hazard is unquestioned.

But the attacking support around Hazard could also be special. Goals may still be a question mark, but with Benzema and Jovic next to Hazard, maybe they won’t be. If Hakimi and Odegaard can start, too, that could help Hazard be a bigger part of the goal-scoring solution.

Next. Luka Jovic just needs time to adapt. dark

Don’t forget, Hazard scored 14 goals in a Premier League season on four occasions for Chelsea. That’s a benchmark he could easily set for Los Blancos in 2020-2021 if fully healthy.
