Real Madrid have made four major signings this summer transfer window in Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, and Bernardo Silva, and after a lack of activity during the 2026 World Cup, Real are back in for two more Galactic tier signings.
Out of nowhere, Real Madrid have been pushing to sign Yan Diomande from the Bundesliga, but just before that, key figures at the club were able to convince Florentino Perez to go in for Manchester City star Rodri, even though the Presi had been rejecting the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner for months.
It looks like Real Madrid are going to seal the deal for Rodri soon, but, as it turns out, they are not the only big clubs with sudden interest in the Man City superstar after his Golden Ball World Cup and the leader of the champions.
The rivals are after Rodri now, too
According to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, PSG have contacted Manchester City about the possibility of a Rodri transfer, perhaps wanting revenge with Real Madrid attempting to hijack their seemingly sealed deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. Meanwhile, Hawkins says that Real's biggest rivals, FC Barcelona, are also interested in Rodri.
Hawkins wrote, "Paris Saint-Germain has contacted Manchester City to inquire about the conditions for a transfer of Rodri. In addition to Real Madrid, which already has an agreement with the player, FC Barcelona would also like to attract him. PSG's executives are considering making a move. The recruitment of a midfielder this summer is not planned, as revealed by , but the world champion, who has only one year left on his contract with City, represents a genuine opportunity.

Real Madrid are still the favorites to sign Rodri, but it is not a guaranteed deal. Manchester City have to be willing to sell, and they have to be willing to sell to Real Madrid, who have become something of their new Champions League rivals over the years.
But remember, Rodri has only been wanting Real Madrid. He was perfectly happy at Manchester City, too, but he wants the Santiago Bernabeu move before his prime ends, and Pep Guaridola leaving Man City gave him one less reason to stick around at the Etihad instead of going for the biggest club in Spain. And someone who dreams of Real Madrid probably isn't going to betray them for Barcelona or PSG - or so Madridistas hope.
