Real Madrid will host Eibar on Saturday. We wanted to do a combined Starting XI for saturday’s match, but with a twist.

All of us here at The Real Champs are big fans of FIFA 17, and its predecessors. One of the more enjoyable modes is Ultimate Team, where you get to build a team and have to make sure there is good chemistry between players. So we decided: why not make a Combined XI using Ultimate Team?

I have to admit, making a combined XI with Real Madrid as one of the teams is difficult. Most Real Madrid players are some of the best players in the world. In order to keep everything a little more balanced, I decided to take current form into account. I’ll also only be using players who are available for the match. So, without further ado, let’s jump into the squad.

Formation

One of the obstacles was deciding which formation to use. A 4-3-3 formation seemed good, but limited alot of my options. I ended up going with a 3-4-1-2 formation. This gave me the opportunity to use both a LM and RM without having to compromise our CAM.

I went with a pairing of Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata. Benzema hasn’t really returned to his previous form, and Gareth Bale would limit us chemistry-wise. They’re both on our bench, so we can always swap them out later on. High/Low and High/Medium workrates for Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata mean that Cristiano will almost always be ready for a through ball while Morata will come back into the midfield to defend and set up plays.

Our midfield is the largest part of the team (almost half of the entire team is based in the midfield). I’ll go from left to right and end with our CAM and playmaker, James Rodriguez. First off, we have Bebe (Eibar) as our LM, who has a great link up with Cristiano Ronaldo. He has pretty good pace, with 90 sprint speed and 79 acceleration.

Then we have the now expected Kroos/Modric combination. There’s really not much need to explain this choice. Kroos has great passing in the high 80’s while Modric has exceptional dribbling as well as a high attacking workrate which will be important later on.

We have Leon (Eibar) as our RM. He’s not the fastest player, but he has 84 passing and likes to be involved in attacking play. His crossing is also in the high 80’s, so you know both forwards will be taking advantage of the heading opportunities.

Finally, we have James Rodriguez as our CAM. He’s easily one of the better #10’s in the world in real life, and he’s up there in Ultimate Team. With 85 shooting and 88 vision, he’s deadly in both goalscoring and assists.

Defenders

I have Dos Santos, Ramos, and Pepe as my defenders. Ramos and Pepe were a given. They’re both great CB’s, both in FIFA 17 and in real life. Dos Santos was a little harder to choose, but his Medium/Medium workrate is great, given that Ramos will move up the pitch more often than not thanks to his High/Medium workrate.

Goalkeeper

Finally, I decided to have Keylor Navas as my goalkeeper. He just came back from his heel surgery, and while he was at fault for the first goal scored by Aubameyang, he had a pretty good overall performance vs Dortmund. He’s by far the best keeper on either team, so it was a no-brainer.

What do you guys think? Do you agree with our combined XI? Who would you swap? Let us know in the comments
