October 7, 2012: FC Barcelona 2 – Real Madrid 2

In what has been called the greatest game by the superstars of both teams, the 2012 edition of El Clásico was indeed a classic because of the unbelievable play from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. In front of a sold out crowd at the Camp Nou on matchday 7 of the La Liga campaign, Messi and Ronaldo showed why they were two of the greatest players of all time.

Ronaldo got the scoring going in the 23rd minute with a great low finish in the bottom corner of the net off a great pass from Karim Benzema who freed the Portuguese beast on the left wing to score. Messi quickly answered with a goal of his own just eight minutes after the Ronaldo goal with a little poke in off a deflecting ball in the box tying the game at one.

In the second half, shortly after the hour mark, Messi curled in a stunning free kick from just over 25 yards outside the box to give Barca the lead for the first time in the game. However, Cristiano Ronaldo was not going to let his team leave without a point, as just four minutes after the Messi beauty, CR7 burst through the Barca defense and put home the tying and ultimately last goal of the game capping a memorable game.
