Better Move On

Why you may say? Simply because: after 8 years at the Bernabeu, playing alongside the likes of Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, Modric, Bale, etc.., Benzema still failed to register himself as a player who can lead the Royal Whites frontline on his own. He is still miles away from being considered the world’s best striker. He is still miles away from being a true “Galactico” (albeit one without a Galactico pricing), which is exactly why he was brought here.

BBC was supposed to be a deadly attacking trident that each individual in it could wreak havoc on his own. Everyone of them is an immediate danger by himself, and their combination is what makes them unstoppable.

The perfect manifestation of what Benzema should be like is Real Madrid’s last draw against Sevilla. A player who gets in the final minutes of a match to score a goal at a time the team needs it (although the team needed his goal for historically aesthetic reasons only). As it seems, what Benzema did in that match is a rare anomaly.

So even if Benzema has what it takes to be the best in his position, if he couldn’t do it in 8 years, he probably won’t be doing it any time soon. Not to mention that age isn’t on his side. He is already nearing the end of his peak, unless he is planning on following Ronaldo’s footsteps, which looks unlikely. Chances are it’s better to search for other options to fill the void, especially that the team already has a very good alternative in Morata, who happens to be player used to scoring on big occasions at a young age, judging by his time in Juventus.
