Real Madrid‘s reported hunt for a new starting striker rolls on as Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Real Madrid have voiced interest over 23 year-old Italian striker Andrea Belotti. The news comes just days after reports surfaced saying that Real Madrid were inquiring both Manchester City and AS Roma over the availability of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.

It’s no mystery to anyone that Real Madrid are in hot pursuit of a new starting striker. Whether it’s because of the constant Karim Benzema to Arsenal or Chelsea rumors, or the reports that Alvaro Morata has already agreed to play for Chelsea at the start of the 2017/18 season, Los Blancos desperately want a new striker.
Andrea Belotti is rumored to be that new target. Arsenal and Chelsea were both said to be the frontrunners to get Belotti a contract over the summer but Florentino Perez and the Real Madrid front office staff apparently want to throw a wrinkle to the fold. The reason for the rumors, is that the Italian newspaper, Gazzetta, reports that Real Madrid are willing to match the €100 million contract buyout clause in order to lure the 23 year-old from Torino to the Spanish capital.

It’s certainly understandable as to why Los Blancos are in such hot pursuit of Belotti, as the young Italian has had the best season of his career and is starting to draw lots of attention across Europe for his impressive goal scoring abilities. With 17 goals and 4 assists in 23 games for Torino, Belotti is scoring a goal every 115 minutes on the pitch.
His impressive goal tally puts him tied for second in the Serie A and has earned him an impressive 7.61 average match rating according to Whoscored.com.
Real Madrid are reportedly in the lead to get Belotti as the president of Torino, Urbano Cairo, will be traveling to Madrid early next week to meet with Florentino Perez and discuss terms.
Following his true breakout season this year, a move to the Bernabeu could be the next big step in Belotti’s career and at just 23, he is still 2 maybe 3 years away from his prime, exactly what manager Zinedine Zidane is looking for in a striker.
It would make a lot of sense for Real to bring Belotti in, however, signing him could mean no signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who has voiced considerable interest in playing in a white shirt in order to uphold a promise made to his late grandfather.
Stay tuned for further updates on Belotti and Real Madrid.
