UEFA Champions League Semifinal vs. Bayern Munich April 2014: A Ramos Double Sends Real to the Final

It was an emphatic 2nd leg by Real Madrid on the road at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich, then coached by now Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, were a powerhouse who many considered to be the favorite in this semifinal tie.

After a close affair in the first leg in Spain which Real Madrid won 1-0, Real needed just one away goal and to play good defense and they could be in the final. So what did Los Blancos do? They went out and put four on Bayern in Munich. It was an utter beatdown in every sense of the word.

Ramos scored the one road goal the team needed in just the 16th minute with another stunning header jumping up between several defenders off the cross from Luka Modric. Following the goal from Ramos, he ran down the sideline with his hand cupped over one of his ears, seemingly taunting the fans and silencing them for what would be the rest of the night.

Ramos wasn’t done there however, as he scored jut four minutes after his first goal with another header this time diving onto the end of an Angel Di Maria free kick ball into the box. Again while defenders appeared to be in front of him and ready to pounce on the cross, Ramos and his sheer talent and ability allowed him to reach the ball.

Real went on to win the game 4-0 with Ronaldo scoring twice himself, giving Los Blancos a decisive 5-0 aggregate victory.
