UEFA Champions League Final vs. Atletico Madrid May 2014: Ramos Saves Real Madrid at the Gun

There was no time left on the clock. There was no stoppage time left when Sergio Ramos directed a corner from Luka Modric beating Thibaut Courtois to the corner post and tying the game to send the game to extra time, which Real would go on to win 4-1 with goals in extra time from Gareth Bale, Marcelo, and Ronaldo.

The goal from Ramos came following a frenzy of attack from Los Blancos who had been itching for a tying goal for an hour after seeing Atleti take the lead on a chipped header just after the half hour mark.

The low header from Ramos send the players, fans, and coaches of Real into pure frenzy with the goal celebrating with the Real faithful in the corner. Ramos proved again that it’s possible to score with literally no stoppage time left and shows that the game is never over until the final whistle.

With this win, coupled with 2016’s triumph, it’s safe to say that Sergio Ramos is the true 90th minute hero for the team.

500 games sure is a lot and Sergio has had plenty of great moments and goals, leaving a lasting impact on the Royal Whites. Thank you Sergio Ramos for everything you’ve done over the course of you time in Madrid and what you’ve yet to do and will do in the near future.
