Wednesday night in the Santiago Bernabéu will mark the return of La Fábrica product, and long time Real Madrid player, Jesé Rodriguez. Jesé was sold to Paris Saint Germain this past August for €25 million, however, Jesé didn’t fit well in the squad in Paris, and is now back in Spain on loan at UD Las Palmas. Despite his recent struggles, Los Blancos will not give Jesé any ground as he returns to Madrid tomorrow, as they know what he can do.

As Jesé walks out on the pitch for the first time since playing for the white shirts last season, the Madristas will be closely watching the former academy star with hope that he doesn’t do too much damage on his former team. The fans know what Jesé is capable of, manager Zinedine Zidane knows what Jesé is capable of, and so do his former teammates.

So, don’t expect Real Madrid to be buddy-buddy with Jesé, they won’t make the mistake of taking him lightly.

  • Zidane is wary of his former player, who he saw play nearly 100 games with Real Madrid. “He’s a formidable player with enormous potential,” Zidane said. “He’s a Spanish player of great quality. I like him a lot as a player and as a person. I hope that his decision to join Las Palmas pays off – starting from Thursday. I hope from then he can do great things with them.”

While Zidane may still be close to Jesé, he will have his team focused on the game tomorrow. It’s crazy to think, that still at the young age of 24, Jesé played nine years within the Real Madrid system, making his return to the Bernabéu that much bigger. In fact, fellow Real Champs writer, Alex McVey, agrees that the return of Jesé, is one of the biggest things to watch in the match.

In a sit down interview with MarcaJesé spoke humbly of his former club saying if he does score in the Bernabéu, “I owe Real a lot, they are the team that welcomed me, as a person and as a young footballer. I owe them a lot and, out of respect and admiration, I wouldn’t celebrate.”

However, when asked how great an impact his ACL injury in 2014 was on his time in the Spanish capital, he said, “I have thought about it. And I’ve never liked comparing myself to anyone, but I think I would be an undisputed starter for Real Madrid. Of that I’m sure.”

Jesé will be hoping for a good result for his new team, UD Las Palmas, as they haven’t won or drawn since his arrival to the Canary Islands, losing all four league games he’s been apart of.

Despite his struggle in form, and the struggles of his team as of late, Real Madrid are not going to treat this game against Las Palmas as a guaranteed win. They know anything can happen, and they certainly know what Jesé is capable of. They’ll have to be wary of their former young star, or he could pull out an amazing performance on them in his former home stadium.
