Real Madrid aren’t done pursuing Sergio Aguero says The Independent. After Los Blancos voiced considerable interest in the Argentine striker about a month ago, the rumors died down, but now, it appears the rumors are going to pick up again, as Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that Real will have to pay a world record fee to acquire Aguero’s services.

Man City, and Pep Guardiola, are expecting several of Europe’s biggest clubs to come calling for the noticeably displeased Aguero who hasn’t had the most enjoyable experience with his new manager this.

Realizing that there are several possible suitors for Aguero, willing to shell out the big bucks in order to acquire his signature,  the club will look for a world record fee for the stud 28 year-old. The Manchester Evening News was the first to report the exact asking price for Aguero and they are saying that it is expected to be close to the amount Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba over the summer, €89.3 million.

City are hoping that the asking price of €89.3 million could grow, since so many clubs are interested in the striker, making for a bidding war. The goal is for that price to grow to over €100 million.

Real Madrid will be keeping close tabs on Aguero as the season comes to a close, as the Argentinian has performed well in his last couple of performances, scoring two goals last week against Monaco in the Champions League, which broke a 6 game goal drought.

Despite the rumors, however, Guardiola remains confident in Aguero and his role at the club saying earlier this week, “He is an important player for us. He was in the past when he played regularly and then there were two or three games when he didn’t play and he was (still) important. He will continue to be important.”

Aguero has been disheartened by the recent signing of Gabriel Jesus, who arrived from Brazilian club Palmeiras in January. The younger Jesus has made 4 appearances for City since arriving, scoring three goals, stunning fans and critics alike, before breaking a metatarsal in his right foot in his fourth game.

With Jesus out for the remainder of the season with that injury, it will be primarily Aguero’s spot at striker for City. Meaning, this could change his feelings and unhappiness with the club since he will be getting the majority of the playing time. However, Jesus is 9 years younger than Aguero, so could this threat of the youngest force Aguero to leave a club he’s been so instrumental for, for so many years?

Real Madrid and us fans will have to wait and see how it plays out.
