No Bale, No Ronaldo, No Kroos, No Problem

Amidst a hectic month of April, manager Zinedine Zidane has elected to rest three of Real Madrid’s key players, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Toni Kroos tonight at 17th place Leganés, as the league leaders try to preemptively prepare for their next fixture, the Madrid Derby against Atletico on Saturday.

Leganés president, Victoria Pavon, said earlier this week that her hope was for Ronaldo to be rested for this game, and it appears her wish has come true.

Los Blancos will play nine games in 28 days, playing their toughest opponents all this month.

Zidane is well aware of the tough month, having rested Keylor Navas, Marcelo, James Rodriguez, and Sergio Ramos Sunday in a 3-0 home win over Alavés.

Casemiro also returns to the lineup after missing the last match due to suspension.

The lineup put out today by Zidane indicates that Real are going to rely heavily on their midfield players to burden the attacking load usually intended for Bale and Ronaldo.

Don’t be surprised to see Jame or Isco play on one of, or both the wings, or Morata and Benzema both start up front.

Real Madrid, despite being without Bale, who was Man of the Match in the reverse fixture against Leganés, and Ronaldo and Kroos who are always influential, there shouldn’t be cause to worry for Real because of who they still have available.
