Monaco’s striker Kylian Mbappé is one of the hottest young transfer prospects on the market right now, and Real Madrid are in the lead for his signature. We’ve got all the latest news in the Mbappé transfer saga.

His name may sound like the title of a catchy 90’s pop song, but Kylian Mbappé is no joke. He’s one of the hottest young strikers in Europe. Many of the world’s top clubs are after his signature, not the least of which is Real Madrid.

Mbappé has been involved in 30 goals across all competitions this season. Not bad for a kid who’s only 18 years old.

Given his potency in front of goal, his dynamic attacking play, and the huge upside potential for improvement, its no wonder that so many clubs are looking to sign him.

Indeed, Mbappé has been so good this season, that Andy Brassell from Bleacher Report has described him not as a potential star, but as a Galactico whose time has already arrived:

"Whether he fulfils that presumed destiny this summer or not, there is little doubt that—having only turned 18 five days before Christmas—Mbappe is already a galactico in his own right. The numbers say plenty and are worth repeating, with 24 goals from 24 starts in all competitions this season representative of a player who is one for now, rather than just for the future."

Mbappé’s incredible goal tally has earned the interest of major clubs such as Manchester United. Indeed, Jose Mourinho is thought to have been after the youngster’s signature. However, The Express reports that Mbappé is uninterested in joining United, because he doesn’t think he would be a good fit with Mourinho’s defensive tactics.

If Mbappé is looking for a place to let his attacking talents shine, he may find a welcome home at Real Madrid. Marca is reporting that Mbappé has made up his mind already, and wants to sign for Real Madrid this summer.

The French youngster has long been on the radar of the Real Madrid’s manager, his fellow countryman Zinedine Zidane.

Two things could get in the way of Mbappé’s transfer to Madrid this summer:

First, the price tag. Marca is reporting that the transfer would cost Real Madrid over 100 million Euros. While Madrid certainly has the money in their coffers to pay such a lavish price, there are doubts over whether it would be wise to pay that much for someone as young as Mbappé.

More from The Real Champs

This is especially true given that Marco Asensio is begging for more playing time and cost only 8 million euros. Mbappé might be one of the world’s best one day, but there is reason to be suspect that Mbappé is actually worth twelve Marco Asensios.

Second, is the crowded roster at Madrid. Madrid is already having a tough time keeping all of their stellar attacking players happy. Zidane has been doing a good job of spreading the minutes around, but players like James Rodriguez, Isco, Asensio, and Alvaro Morata deserve more than they’ve gotten this season.

If Mbappé were to join Madrid, it would certainly mean that at least a few of these players would have to go. Alvaro Morata is wanted by a number of top European clubs. Or, perhaps Real Madrid could offload Karim Benzema, who has had a less than stellar season, to make room for the youngster.

Either way, be expecting to hear much more about the potential transfer of Kylian Mbappé this summer.
