Breaking news: Zidane decided to rest Marcelo for the Real Madrid vs Sevilla match. That leaves some big questions about how Los Blancos will line up this afternoon.

AS is reporting that Marcelo has been left out of the Real Madrid squad for the huge match against Sevilla. Marcelo is apparently being given some rest after a tough series of matches. This is a big gamble for Zidane to not even have Marcelo on the bench.

Marcelo has been one of the best players in Madrid’s squad this season.

His dynamic attacking play on the left flank has been a crucial feature of a Madrid side that is often reliant on crossing in from out wide.

More from The Real Champs

Between him and Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid have two of the best full-backs in the world. With both Marcelo and Carvajal not on the pitch today, Zidane runs the serious risk of disrupting Real Madrid’s tactical approach of attacking on the flanks.

With Marcelo out, there are big questions as to how Zidane will line up. While Fabio Coentrao is the natural left-back replacement in the squad, he is nowhere near the quality of Nacho.

I predict that Zidane  will deploy Danilo on the right, and Nacho on the left.

Hopefully this gamble won’t hurt Madrid. This is a must-win match, so Madrid will need everything to go in their favor if they want to stay in the lead for the La Liga title.
