Three things we learned in Real Madrid’s home finale against Sevilla

Zinedine Zidane has perfected the art of squad rotation
The man at the helm of this Real Madrid team deserves a ton of credit for this team’s great successes this year. As the season has gone along, Zidane has been maturing and learning how to prepare his team for the big match, and how to execute the plan.
This success begins and ends with Zidane’s uncanny ability to asses his squad and rotate them accordingly. Again in this match today, he showed how deep his team is, and how he can adapt to an opponent.
The starting lineup from Zidane featured no Isco, no Karim Benzema, no Marcelo, no Luka Modric, and no Casemiro. And even with these normal starters on the bench, Real were able to get two goals inside of a half hour.
Zidane has frequently been criticized for his lacing tactical mindset, but does a team like this really need a whole lot of tactics?
With this squad rotation plan, Zidane has saved his player’s energy for mid-week Champions League matches, and for short turnaround La Liga matches. This has resulted in a noticeable upgrade from the usual same starting XI week after week.
Zidane has done a whole lot right thus far this year, but can he reach the finish line of the La Liga title AND the Champions League title in one season? We will have to wait and see.
