Real Madrid‘s long, drawn out efforts to acquire the signature of budding superstar Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco might finally have come to an. The French club told the La Liga champions Saturday that they will not accept the world record €120 million bid put on the table by Florentino Perez. Ben Sundock has more.

Los Blancos’ inquiry for the best young striker in the world, Kylian Mbappe, has been rejected by AS Monaco according to The TelegraphThis comes after several reports had indicated that Mbappe could be on his way out of France to the biggest club in the world.

While Monaco vice-president and chief executive Vadim Vasilyev may have rejected a bid from Real Madrid to sign Mbappe this summer, there is still the possibility of a deal happening next summer, after the World Cup in Russia.

Instead of selling Mbappe and using the cash to bolster an already impressive team that won the French Ligue 1 this season and made it to the Champions League semifinal round, Vasilyev and club president Dmitry Rybolovlev are instead looking to extend Kylian’s contract to stay in Monte Carlo.

“The plan is to do everything to prolong him (Mbappe) and to do everything that he stays a minimum one more year with us.”

Mbappe played a crucial role in helping Monaco lift the league trophy for the first time in 17 years, as he and resurgent striker Radamel Falcao poured in goals all season, combining to score 51 league goals.

Vasilyev was very impressed by Mbappe this season, and recognizes how high the ceiling for this young player is, concluding his comments by saying,“He will definitely be one of the top players in the world. He has everything to succeed. He has the skills, the technique, the speed, the mentality, the competitive spirit. He has a great family who surround him. He has all the ingredients to be a world success.”

I’m right there with Mr. Vasilyev in thinking that Mbappe is a rare talent. When you draw comparisons to one of the greatest to ever play the game, Thierry Henry, at the young age of 18, there’s no doubt that this guy will be a force in Europe for the remainder of his career.

Monaco would be wise to sign Mbappe to a multi-year deal, with a ridiculous buyout clause, in order to hold off some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Real Madrid have already proven that they are willing to shell out an arm and a leg to sign this youngster, so what’s stopping them from making another world record bid next summer? Absolutely nothing.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see this guy in a white Real uniform in about 3 years. Watch out Monaco, Florentino Perez is a powerful man who gets what he wants.
