Alvaro Morata reportedly set to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United

It’s starting to look like Alvaro Morata’s time at Real Madrid has come to a close. Reports suggest the young Spanish striker is set to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United, with a deal to be announced soon. Here’s all the latest transfer rumors regarding Alvaro Morata.
Alvaro Morata’s season at Real Madrid this year is perplexing, to say the least.
On the one hand, he came away as the team’s second-most prolific goalscorer. His record at the club this season is second only to Cristiano Ronaldo.
On the other hand, he rarely found his way into the starting XI against top teams. His tally came mostly on the back of performances off the bench or from matches against the minnows of La Liga.
Apparently, Morata will not accept a secondary role any longer. Marca reports that Morata’s agent met with the higher-ups at Madrid and informed them of his client’s desire to look for greener pastures elsewhere.
Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United is the club most likely to snag Morata’s signature at this point. With huge question marks surrounding the future of the injured 35 year old Zlatan Ibrahimovic, United will look to improve their roster in the striker position.

The Telegraph reports that Morata and United already agreed to personal terms, and that it is now up to the two teams to negotiate a transfer fee.
United reportedly offered €70 Million for Morata’s services, but Real Madrid hope to squeeze €20 Million more out of the Red Devils.
An interesting wrinkle in this impending transfer deal is the potential for Manchester United to use David de Gea as leverage in the transfer negotiations.
Florentino Perez has been after de Gea’s signature for years. United might use that knowledge to keep the inflation of Morata’s price-tag in check. While an outright swap is unlikely, United can use the carrot of a de Gea transfer to encourage Perez to come to the bargaining table over Morata.
