Several clubs showing interest in Danilo
By Ben Sundock
Despite two struggling seasons with Real Madrid, right back Danilo is drawing a lot of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Both Chelsea and Juventus have come calling for the Brazilian defenders signature after he has been unable to receive regular playing time in Spain. Ben Sundock has more.
I haven’t been the biggest fan of Danilo since he joined Real Madrid from FC Porto back in 2015. In fact, I wrote a pretty scathing article of the right back after he managed to score two own goals in the span of just over a month at the beginning of this year.
As you can imagine, I was pretty happy to hear that teams were calling for Danilo’s signature, possibly luring him away from the Bernabeu in the very near future.
Reports have indicated that both Juventus and Chelsea have contacted Real and Danilo to discuss a possible transfer deal this summer, but Los Blancos are firmly set on keeping the right back unless a club agrees to pay €30 million.
Real bought Danilo for around €27 million two summers ago, and in the span of two seasons, the 25-year-old has featured in just 41 matches and has struggled with form the entire time.
Juventus appear to be the frontrunners to acquire Danilo, with the chances of Alex Sandro departing Turin in favor of Antonio Conte’s side to be very likely. Juventus are doing everything they can to hold on to Sandro, and with Chelsea willing to pay around €60 million for the talented player, it seems that Danilo is the backup option for both clubs.
According to Managing Madrid and other news outlets, Danilo has already verbally agreed to move to the team that Real Madrid defeated in this year’s Champions League final for slightly less than what Real were looking for.
I’m a little hesitant to believe all the rumors that Florentino Perez would accept such a deal after saying that the club were looking for €30 million. Although, I would be pretty happy to see Danilo depart the club because, as I’ve said before, the right back isn’t a reliable backup or starter in the Spanish capital.
With Dani Alves already said to have left Juve, Danilo could be the starter for the Italian side. It seems like Juve fans aren’t too excited about the idea of Danilo coming to the club.
Well Juve, I would be happy to let you take this guy off the hands of Zidane and the club. There is much better talent out there that Real Madrid could sign, and much better youth talent already within the club (like Achraf).
