Real Madrid finally completed a deal to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Betis yesterday and his buyout clause in his new contract with Madrid is definitely jaw dropping.

After a lot of speculation and negotiation, Ceballos is officially a Real Madrid player.

The club announced on their website in a statement,”Real Madrid and Real Betis Balompie have agreed the transfer of the player Dani Ceballos, who will be connected to the club for the next six seasons. The player will be presented next Thursday, July 20, at 13:00, in the VIP suite at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The next day, Friday 21, he will join up with the squad’s pre-season in the United States.”

Hats off to Florentino Perez and the Real Madrid board for not only getting this deal done, but also sending James Rodriguez to FC Bayern Munich on a two-year loan, shortly after Ceballos had verbally told the club that he would be joining.

The deal is a very good one for Los Blancos, as they sign the 20-year-old midfielder to a six-year deal, paying just €17 million to Real Betis (covering the €15 million release clause in his contract).

Realizing the potential of the player after a fantastic performance at the U-21 Euros in Poland with Spain, Real Madrid have slapped a stunning €500 million release clause on Dani.

I think it’s rather safe to say that he won’t be leaving the club before his contract expires since the release clause is pushing the realms of Lionel Messi’s release clause with Barcelona.

The €500 million release clause on Dani’s new contract with the defending LaLiga and Champions League winners comes shortly after the club upped Marco Asensio’s release clause to €350 million just last month.

Los Blancos have made a clear shift in their transfer philosophy, signing more promising young talent and less big names for big money this summer, by acquiring Theo Hernandez, bringing Jesus Vallejo back from loan, and now acquiring Dani Ceballos.

I would be pretty surprised if Real did anything more during this summer in terms of signing players, as it appears to me that the club is filled out in terms of starters and good youth depth.
