Real Madrid have shown what they want to do with the future of their team, and that is sign young players before they reach their prime. I never thought they would go as far to sign a 13-year-old, yet, they have. Here are the details.
Reports today from Marca indicate that Real Madrid have signed 13-year-old phenom David Pecellin from Real Betis’ youth academy.
The youth star has been playing for the Infantil Betis team for a couple years now after leaving Sevilla’s youth academy and has dazzled.
Real have been following Pecellin for a couple years now, after performing great in the LaLiga Promises tournament last summer and this summer. His highlights show the already fantastic ability the young teen possesses.
Pecellin topped the scoring list in his age group and will hopefully be worth the amount of time it took Real to finally sign him. Reports indicate that Los Blancos began their pursuit of David over a year ago, and were just able to sign him earlier today.
While he won’t have a chance to play in Real Madrid’s first-team for at least four more years, it is a very smart move by Florentino Perez to sign the youngster now and give him plenty of time to develop within La Fábrica.
The 13-year-old Pecellin is surprisingly tall for his age and shows good pace and dribbling moving forward. Not to mention, he has a wicked shot that was good enough to put a couple past Real Madrid’s Infatil team in the tournament.
I am really impressed with the switch in transfer strategy Real Madrid have employed this summer, and it’s putting them in a good position to be successful for a long, long time.
Pecellin is just another piece in the Real youth academy who could one day become a superstar.
I will definitely be keeping a close eye on the young striker as he works his way up the ranks towards the Madrid first team.
No official statement from the club has been made, but it is normal for them to not make a formal statement on the signing of such a young player.
