Real Madrid‘s current squad is loaded as we’ve seen already early in this new season. So much so, some people believe the team could win every competition they feature in during the 2017/2018 campaign. Could they realistically win six trophies this season? Yes. Here’s why.

It may be one of the toughest feats in football history, but Real Madrid could honestly win every competition they play in this season. Yes, even tougher than winning back-to-back Champions League title.

Manager Zinedine Zidane has done a great job finding a stout starting XI that rarely changes with so much success he’s lost as many matches in the last 20 months while in charge (7) than he’s won trophies in that same time frame (7).

So, with Los Blancos set to compete in four more competitions this year, LaLiga, Champions League, the Copa del Rey, and the FIFA Club World Cup, many believe that this team has not only the talent to win every trophy available to them this year, but the depth needed to do it.

Real are already off to an extraordinary start, having won two trophies in the span of a week, the UEFA Super Cup over Manchester United and the Spanish Super Cup over Barcelona.

I am totally on board the hype train as of right now having seen this team play fantastic in all five of their competitive matches thus far in the new season (even the Valencia draw) to believe they can pull off this unfathomable feat.

And I am not the only one who is providing fuel to the fire. Former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder, Xabi Alonso, said in an interview that it is not out of the question this team winning six trophies this season.

  • “It is complicated but not impossible. It can be done,” Alonso said. “Madrid are leading the way for the rest of the world. If we look at how they have played in the last four years and how the team looks, they are certainly the reference points in every way, both in Europe and throughout the world.”

Alonso played for Madrid from 2009 until 2014 and was a crucial player over his many years of service to the club. He knows the club very well and actually worked with Zidane for a couple years while winning the Champions League final in 2014 over Atletico Madrid.

“You never know how far you can go but things appear to be very good. Zinedine Zidane has earned his place on great merit with how he has been able to manage everything. He won LaLiga which the club hadn’t done recently and deserved to do it. Their trajectory is very good.”

“They have won three out of four [Champions League titles] … which isn’t bad. The whole Madridismo community is very excited and the feeling is that they can achieve even more.”

While most clubs would settle for three out of four UCL titles and a league title to go along with it last season, Real Madrid look hungrier than ever and want to win more trophies, proving they’re the best team in the history of the club.

Alonso concluded his interview by saying, “The others will try to close the gap but Real Madrid are at a higher level than the rest at the moment and with young people, they won’t stop getting better.”

With the astounding youth talent within the team and stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric playing at incredibly high levels, there is no ceiling for this team.

Every other club is playing catch up to the Kings of Spain right now and they still have a lot of work to do if they want to even get close to dethroning them.
