Uh oh. Real Madrid will be without yet another key player for tomorrow’s trip to San Sebastian in a crucial LaLiga fixture. With the suspensions of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo already a detriment, and Mateo Kovacic out two months with a thigh injury, Real will also be without star midfielder Toni Kroos. Here are the details.

As Real Madrid face off with Real Sociedad tomorrow night coming off back-to-back draws, it will be a must-win match. Coupled with a Barcelona win earlier today against Getafe, Los Blancos need to get the full three points.

However, the midfield maestro, Toni Kroos, will not be in the squad for the trip. The German international missed training Saturday for an undisclosed reason and manager Zinedine Zidane does not feel comfortable playing him if he was unable to train.

“I cannot count on them, when you do not train the day before you cannot be involved,” he said in his pre-match press conference Saturday. “We will not risk it. We hope it’s not going to be serious, so we’re not going to be silly.”

Karim Benzema and Jesus Vallejo also remain out with a hamstring and head injury respectively.

After receiving so much praise for having the deepest midfield in the world, Real are having that depth tested as they try to compensate for such a large swath of players being out.

It is very likely that Dani Ceballos will get the start Sunday night in the Anoeta Stadium and we will likely see a return from Marco Asensio who missed the Champions League group stage opener against APOEL on Wednesday.

While Zidane is hesitant to give away his starters for the match, he did hint at the possibility of Dani starting in place of the injured Toni Kroos.

“Dani’s going to be with us, he’ll be in the squad. All the players need to have patience. For me it’s very important, each one of them will have their chance to play I am sure of that.”

“With regards to Dani, I’m sure that he’s ready to play, but these things take time,” he added. “He’s training well, he’s with the squad and he’ll have the chance to play, the chance to start at some stage.”

Many fans want to see what the young Ceballos will look like as a starter in this team and tomorrow could be a glance into the future.

Kroos came on for the injured Mateo Kovacic in the 3-0 win over APOEL and didn’t appear to get injured and played very well for the entire match. Hopefully, the injury is nothing serious as Real Madrid thrive with a healthy Kroos on the pitch.
