Champions League Interview with BVB Buzz ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with Dortmund
Ahead of Real Madrid’s upcoming game against Borrusia Dortmund, I spoke with Alex Orillac from BVB Buzz about the draw and the new look Dortmund side under Peter Bosz.
I suppose the best way to start this interview is for you to introduce yourself and tell us a bit about Dortmund Buzz?
Sounds great! My name is Alex Orillac and I’m currently a contributor and twitter manager for BVB Buzz. Now in BVB Buzz all of our contributors are pretty unique and special since we all come from different parts of the world. This makes up a unique experience for each one of us and all our readers regarding our articles and twitter interactions.
Dortmund vs Real Madrid seems to be becoming a staple European fixture. What was your reaction to drawing Madrid in the group stages once again?
Im pretty sure we weren’t the only ones surprised about that one. The two of us have faced off more than any other 2 teams in the last 5 UCL seasons. Clearly this is a great opportunity for us to keep showcasing our excellence against a top tier team such as you guys.
Dortmund are a very different side since we last played each other. Firstly, Thomas Tuchel has left the club. What changes has Peter Bosz brought to this Dortmund side?
Well the first clear example of what Mr. Bosz brought to Dortmund is his aggressive pressing style. A clear example of this successful style of play can be traced back to our home opener against Wolfsburg. Now implementing it against a team such as Real Madrid will be challenging but nevertheless it will be very rewarding to see some of it’s strengths and flaws. This will surely help us on our Bundesliga campaign.
Dembele had Madrid’s defense on strings last season, especially at the Westfalenstadion, how will his departure effect Dortmund’s chances?

If I’m being honest his departure will surely be missed, but the way he left us makes me have second thoughts. At the moment we have American youngster Christian Pulisic who has been doing wonders for the team. Sure Dembele was an assist and skills master but I strongly believe that as the season progresses Pulisic will catch up.
Dortmund have caused Madrid problems in the past, do you think Bosz will continue this trend?
From what we have seen on this first 3 official games (including the Super Cup) Bosz system has been wonderful against Wolfsburg and it did pretty good against Bayer Munich. I strongly believe that Bosz and the lads can make this types of games difficult for Los Galacticos. We are hoping for a 1st place on the group stage for second year in a row!
Here is an easy question, which Real Madrid player are you most worried about coming up against?
If you had asked this question right after the Champions League final of last year I’d say Cristiano Ronaldo or even Gareth Bale. Currently if I’m being 100% honest I’d be more worried about the young Marco Asensio. He has been an amazing midfielder with a lethal long shot. Id love to see him play for us one day!
Hypothetically, how do you think an APOEL FanSided page would have reacted to the group stage draw?
Well an APOEL FanSided page would be interesting. I strongly believe they will surely join in on the UCL banter with us and Hotspurs HQ. Honestly what can they say about the group, considering them as one of the weaker UCL sides a group that can favor them can be very rough to draw.
