Achraf Hakimi is a solid replacement at right back

No Dani Carvajal? No problem!

19-year-old right-back Achraf Hakimi was solid in his Champions League debut Tuesday night. The youngster saw a lot of touches (94) and was very involved in the game as the fullback always is with this team.

He had lots of space to work with when moving forward and held Christian Eriksen in check for the majority of the match. His one and only struggle was his first touches.

There were several occasions when the Moroccan international struggled to settle a long ball off his chest and down to his foot.

All around, however, this is a very promising player Real Madrid have found to back up their regular #1 Carvajal.

Obviously, the nerves played a big part for Achraf in his first UCL game, but who wouldn’t feel nervous playing against a side like Spurs on the biggest stage in football?

I really like the pace and crossing ability from this kid. He made a great hustle play to track a ball down in the opening minutes and sent a cross back into Ronaldo when he headed the ball off the post.

Expect more big things from this kid in the near future and further down the road.
