Player ratings from Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss against Girona
It was a disappointing result for Real Madrid, who lost 2-1 away to Girona. Obviously, there weren’t many standout performances, here is how we rated Los Blancos performance.
The Defense
Kiko Casilla: 6/10 – He seemed quite flat-footed when Girona crossed the ball, especially the two times they hit the post. Casilla could do very little to stop either goal, even the first goal despite it being a near-post finish.
Achraf: 6/10 – The youngster had very little impact on offense and had a stable game defensive. I think a lot of Madridistas appreciate what Achraf brings to the table, but will be hoping Dani Carvajal returns soon.
Sergio Ramos: 5/10 – One of Ramos’ worst performances in a long time. He needed to be constantly bailed out by his teammates and gave the ball away needlessly. Himself and Nacho failed to deal with the ball which led to the Girona equalizer.
Raphael Varane: 8/10 – It speaks of the Frenchman’s quality that Madrid kept a clean sheet in the first half. He held the back line together with his pace. Easily Madrid’s most important player in the first half. He had more interception in the first half than any Madrid player had in the rest of the game. Man of the match for me.
Marcelo: 5/10 – It was an infuriating performance from the Brazilian. He offered nothing up front and left a large gap on the left of the defense, something Real paid for when the second goal was conceded.
