Neymar’s dad meets with Real Madrid, but why?

Rumors have emerged from Madrid that Neymar’s father has met with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, but why? We have the details.

Despite his recent move to Paris Saint-Germain, and a hefty contract too, it appears Neymar still wants to play for Real Madrid one day.

While that one day may be a bit down the road, it seems rather likely the incredibly talented Brazilian winger will come back to La Liga and to the rivals of his former team.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Neymar’s father, Neymar Santos Sr., was in Madrid today to talk with President Perez about his son possibly replacing Cristiano Ronaldo once his contract is up.

News has been spreading like wildfire across Spain about the declined output from Ronaldo this season, as he has the second most shots in the entire league with 48, but has scored just one goal to date.

Neymar on the other hand, has been thriving since moving to France. IN just 8 starts, the 25-year-old has bagged 7 goals, while also providing 5 assists with an average match rating of 8.86.

Neymar is currently in the first year of a five-year deal with PSG, while Ronaldo is under contract with Real Madrid until June 2021 after re-signing with Los Blancos last winter.

So, will Neymar actually come to Real Madrid to replace CR7 four years from now? As we learned in the quick move that saw Neymar jump ship from Barca to Paris, anything is possible.

The fact that Neymar Sr. is meeting with Florentino Perez to discuss this matter just over three months after his son signed the most lucrative deal in football history is jaw-dropping, to be frank.

I would not mind seeing Neymar in a white jersey once Ronaldo is ready to hang up the cleats for good, but it is just too hard to predict these things four years out.

Things frequently change with soccer players and PSG could entice the Brazilian to stay if they are having success, or if he is happy in France.

We will just have to keep a close eye on the situation as we near 2021.
