INJURY NEWS – Real Madrid’s Isco exits Spain match with injury
By Alex McVey
Real Madrid’s Isco was on international duty with Spain when he was forced to exit the match against Costa Rica with injury. That’s bad news for Madrid.
Real Madrid don’t need any more bad news right now. Gareth Bale was recently diagnosed with a muscle strain in his leg, and Keylor Navas is also having injury problems.
Isco now joins the injury list. He was playing in Spain’s friendly against Costa Rica, and was having quite the time.
You know, just Isco doing Isco things.
But then things took a turn for the worse, Isco went down after a hard tackle from Costa Rica’s Kendall Watson. It wasn’t so bad that Isco couldn’t put weight on it. He tried to run it off, but eventually asked Lopetegui to replace him.

This is a huge blow for Real Madrid. Los Blancos need all the goals they can get at the moment, and Isco is a huge part of that equation. Isco’s scored four and assisted three in La Liga this season. If Benzema and Ronaldo’s draught continues, Isco’s goals will be needed to keep Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title.
Marca reports that Isco may have just suffered from a knock, and could avoid any long-term absence through injury. Tests will occur on Sunday.
Real Madrid have one of their toughest tests coming up in La Liga against Atletico Madrid. Isco will have to balance his desire to get out there and influence the match and his need to stay healthy. We’ll see if he’s ready to start against Atletico.
If not, we may get to see Dani Ceballos plug in for the missing Alarcon. Ceballos has performed reasonably well when given his opportunity thus far. But he’ll be relishing any opportunity he gets to make an impression.
