Sunday’s edition of ‘The Real Links’ features more updates on Real Madrid players on international duty, Atletico Madrid trying to sign Dries Mertens, and more news on the Neymar to Real Madrid rumors. Let’s jump in!

Goal of the Day

There weren’t any goals in Saturday’s international play that really stood out to me so I decided to make the goal of the day a bit of a throwback.

This unbelievable Cristiano Ronaldo strike came during the 2015/2016 as Real Madrid faced AS Roma in the Champions League. The matchup between the Spanish side and the Italian side was not a close affair as Real won both legs of the Round of 16 tie 2-0.

Ronaldo bagged this beauty as well in the away leg and added another in Madrid to see Real past, Roma.

This goal also closely resembles a goal Zinedine Zidane had during his playing days with Real Madrid.

Isco picks up thigh injury, out for Spain’s match against Russia

Just what Real Madrid needed! Yet another injury to a key player.

Yesterday during Spain’s 5-0 victory over Costa Rica, Isco picked up a knock on his thigh and was forced to leave the match shortly after halftime.

Isco has been key to Real’s success all season and without him on the field, all the pressure is going to fall on Ronaldo.

Madrid could have 7 players return from loan ahead of next season

Due to the high amount of injuries suffered by the Real Madrid first team squad this year, the club is keeping a close eye on the players they’ve loaned out.

Several players such as Martin Ødegaard, Vinicius Jr., and Sergio Diaz have performed well while away from their parent club and could see a chance to be included in the first team next season.

Here is a full update on all seven players Real could call into action in 2018/2019.

Cristiano Ronaldo uses his shoulder to score crazy goal in training

CR7 you beast you. Maybe he’ll try this in a match in the near future.

Real Madrid planning big summer move to sign Neymar

I don’t think it will actually happen, but it’s fun to talk about it. Rumors are swirling that Real Madrid are putting together a mega bid to try and lure Neymar back to Spain.

That mega is said to be in the realm of €200 million and could be on the table for Neymar and his father to look at as early as 2018.

It’s hard to believe Neymar would consider leaving PSG not even half a season into his contract but that is what reports are saying.

We will have to play this situation by ear.
