Monday’s edition of ‘The Real Links’ features news on Sergio Ramos’ nose injury, a look around La Liga, and a preview for matchday 5 of the Champions League group stage. Let’s jump in!
Goal of the Day
Today’s goal of the day comes courtesy of Mauro Icardi from over the weekend.
The talented striker bagged a brace for Inter in their 2-0 win over Atalanta and was putting shots on target all match long. Icardi is having a great season, having scored 13 goals in 13 appearances in the league.
Should Real Madrid target the potent striker?
Real Madrid Links
Real Madrid arrive in Cyprus ahead of UCL match
The team has flown from Madrid to Nicosia, Cyprus a day ahead of their fifth group stage match against APOEL.
The team will stay at the Hilton Cyprus hotel near the stadium and will be training their later tonight before tomorrow’s match.
Real Madrid should have had 9 penalties called this season
This is one of the crazier stories I have seen. According to AS, and elaborated on by 101 Great Goals, Real Madrid should have been awarded 9 penalty kicks over the course of this season. Yet, they haven’t been given a single one this season.
The websites go into great detail to show each and every call that has been missed and the evidence is pretty clear. Check it out for yourself and see if you agree.
Sergio Ramos out for 2-3 weeks with broken nose
We will have a more in-depth story on this later on today, but Sergio Ramos is out for nearly a month after getting kicked in the face by Lucas Hernandez while diving for a header in the box.
No there was no a penalty given and Lucas didn’t receive a card either.
Manchester United want to sign Gareth Bale, again
For the third time in the last couple years, Manchester United are making it a priority to sign Gareth Bale in one of the coming transfer windows.
As many of you already know, Bale’s injury problems while in Madrid have been significant and the forward has missed nearly half the games he should have featured in in that time.
Jose Mourinho really wants Gareth apparently, but where will he fit into that lineup if he does go there? It seems to me that United already have heaping talent at the forward position and it would be difficult for Bale to break in there.
We will have to see what happens.
