The Champions League round of 16 draw will take place on Monday. Real Madrid will be in Pot 2, after finishing 2nd in their group. They cannot face Tottenham (a team from the same group in group-stage) and FC Barcelona (Spanish team) in this round. A look below at their potential opponents and how they are faring so far in this season:

Liverpool

Form so far: Liverpool’s defense has been quite disastrous this season. While they have had some performances of note, they have largely been because of the forward and midfield play. They have won 8 of their 15 league matches this season, having conceded NINETEEN goals.

They topped their group in the CL, but are also the team which blew a 3-0 halftime lead against Sevilla. However, they mostly come up with the goods when it comes to scoring goals.

What to watch out for: Klopp’s tactics, Coutinho’s creativity, and Mo Salah’s firepower. This is the first season I have seen Salah play and the man has been on fire. He has pace, he has the skill, and he has extreme game awareness. He will definitely keep the Madrid’s center-backs on high alert.

Verdict: Real Madrid’s defense has been shaky, and Liverpool has some firepower in front of goal. They are also prone to leaking goals though. Given a chance, and looking at other teams in the draw, I wouldn’t mind drawing Liverpool.
