Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says he will not be looking to sign any players in the January transfer window. Here’s why.

“Everything can be improved but when things are working well, sometimes it’s best not to interfere,” Perez said following Real’s 1-0 win over Grêmio Saturday in the FIFA Club World Cup.

While many Real Madrid fans and critics have been hoping to get some new faces into the team after the early season struggles, the club president and manager Zinedine Zidane don’t feel the same way. Zidane has said in interviews that he his not looking to bring a striker, or any other new players in.

President Perez was in good spirits following Real Madrid’s fifth trophy of the 2017 calendar year and said he didn’t want to mess with the team’s success.

“We have great players and a raft of young talent coming through. It’s now time to enjoy what we have.”

If you are anything like me, you probably don’t agree with these comments from Florentino or Zidane.

This team is clearly missing a go-to scorer other than Cristiano Ronaldo and with that missing piece, this team will struggle in big matches against teams who can play lockdown defense. Karim Benzema is not getting it done in front of goal.

He has started shooting the ball more, but that has not resulted in more goals. Instead, it has been CR7 who has had to become the first choice striker and winger for this team. I thought that the board would have at least wanted to bring in some depth at the striker position after the departures of Alvaro Morata and Mariano Diaz.

Borja Mayoral has shown that he can be a good option against lower-tier teams, but not against the likes of Barcelona or PSG in the Champions League. That is where Morata is dearly missed.

Also, what happened to the rumors of Los Blancos trying to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga this window to serve as a rotation goalkeeper with Keylor Navas? It seemed to me like Kepa was ready to leave Athletic Bilbao and a move to Real Madrid was in the cards.

President Florentino does not see it that way.

What do you think about Florentino’s comments? Should Real Madrid sign a striker or a goalkeeper like Kepa in January?
