Real Madrid travels to Leganes as they look to improve on their dicey run in the Copa Del Rey Here are three things to watch for as Real Madrid try to put one foot into the semi-finals.

No Room for an Ego

The Copa Del Rey is currently in the quarter-finals stage with just eight teams remaining. Real Madrid will certainly be looking to claim the title that has avoided them for a few years now. All the other fixtures in this round of the competition have been played and nothing has gone the way most would have expected.

Take our biggest rivals Barcelona for example, they lost to Espanyol despite having 69% possession. Not only that Blaugrana have been unbeaten in that stadium for years now they have also lost their unbeaten streak. Real’s city rivals Atletico let the draw slip in the 88-minute against Sevilla to go down 1-2.  Just to top it all off, Valencia came back against Alaves in just under ten minutes to steal the win.

For all the aforementioned teams that have lost and a comeback is not impossible but there is a lesson for Real Madrid here, anything can happen. After losing this weekend in the dying minutes Real cannot afford to walk onto the pitch with the attitude that they are better and shortchange their counterparts.

In the two previous rounds of the Copa, Real Madrid have been sprinkled with an abundance of luck drawing Fuenlabrada and Numancia but those games were not put to bed easily. Being able to play the first leg away will be a great advantage for Madrid, only if they can capitalise and put away plenty of goals.
