Coach Zinedine Zidane emphasised the importance of intensity in the pre-match press conference. Zidane noted that “In a Copa tie, you always have to give it everything; we are away, so we want to score and not concede goals”. This will be of utmost importance as intensity is something that squad seem to be lacking in the second half of their fixtures.

Take last weeks La Liga loss to Villareal in the dying minutes of the match, it was beyond pitiful. In the first half, it seemed as though Madrid could really pull it off and be turning this sinking ship around but come the second half Los Blanco’s just shut off.

Every time Madrid conceded, you could almost see the embarrassment wash over their face. The whole world is looking at Real Madrid puzzled as to where they stand and how they are performing but today’s match is a chance to help put the skeptics to bed.
