Borja Mayoral does not have a place in this team
Whoever decided that Borja Mayoral would be a sufficient backup to Karim Benzema after the departures of Alvaro Morata and Mariano Diaz deserves to be slapped in the face.
Borja has been totally and utterly useless this season. Yet again, the Spanish striker proved he is not good enough to even be a backup on this team. Borja was a ghost for the majority of the match and drew heavy criticism for having no impact.
I am right there with the mob. I am incredibly frustrated with the club’s decision to not only not sign a depth striker, but to put all their faith blindly in Borja.
The guy has no impact on the attack, he can’t pass the ball, and if he doesn’t have service from a player like Gareth Bale on the wings, he is utterly useless in front of goal. All the fans who are in shock this team doesn’t score more goals need not look further than this guy.
Opposing teams don’t feel threatened by Mayoral’s presence on the field like Morata last season. If I were an opposing manager, I would tell my defenders to disregard Borja all together and focus on Marco Asensio or Lucas Vazquez because they actually have the potential to dribble the ball and make room for themselves.
Borja Mayoral is a poacher striker and nothing more. He does not deserve to be in this team. Even as a backup.
