Gareth Bale

The Welshman was one of three Madrid players in the mix zone following the match, here’s what he had to say about his performance:

"“I feel good, I’m still not 100% but I’m getting back to my best one step at a time. I’m happy to be back playing again, to be at this level and improving all the time. There are still big games to come and of course I want to play in and win these kinds of games”."

Bale on the team moving forward:

"“Real Madrid have to rest up and take work as a team, taking it one step at a time. I think we’ll get back to our best slowly but surely. We have to keep working hard in the upcoming games and keep on winning. We never give in, even if we know LaLiga is now extremely difficult. When you’re back playing alongside these teammates, that makes you very happy. I’m glad to be back with them and scoring goals”."

Nacho

Nacho touched on the perseverance of Real Madrid and how integral that was to the win:

"“The match didn’t start as we would have liked but the team ended up putting in a fantastic performance. Having so much possession is always a positive thing because the opposition can’t attack you and that’s how we try and set up in every game. On the whole, everyone had a great match. We pressed high up, created chances and Deportivo barely got anywhere near our goal”. “We work hard to produce performances like today but you’ve always got to beat the opposition in front of you. I can assure you we work week in week out to claim this kind of result. When he’s 100% fit, Bale lifts the team up a level and we all know what a great player he is”."

Scoring two goals on the night including the brace:

"“I try to do my job, which is to defend, and on a personal level, a game like today’s is one of the best I’ve had in a Real Madrid shirt. Scoring a brace is a great achievement. I have real faith in my ability, aim to work hard in every training session, regardless of whether I’m playing or not, and make the most of every opportunity the coach gives me. The team reacted well to the setback and we created a whole host of chances”."

Casemiro

The Brazilian on the pieces falling in place:

"“At last everything went our way, we played well and got a lot of goals. We had been playing well, but the ball just didn’t want to go in for us. Today we put in a perfect performance. The whole group is deserving of praise, we were united, battled and we work hard every single day. We know how things work in football and that when the ball runs for you, the wins start to follow”."

Why fighting back and never giving up is important no matter how impossible it may seem:

"“It’s important to be able to fight back. We know that we’re not performing well in attack and today the whole team put in a top performance and everyone has to be congratulated on it. We need everyone to chip in with goals because there’s still a long way to go and we’ve got a lot of important games, and although we’ve got a lot of ground to make up, we still believe and continue to fight for it. As a squad we weren’t down but being at Real Madrid means that you simply always have to win and we hadn’t been doing that”."
