Cristiano Ronaldo has turned into a true leader

Ronaldo was wearing the captain’s armband for this match, and it was truly a captain’s performance from the Portuguese superstar.

For his first goal, he pointed towards Benzema and demanded that the fans appreciate his contribution. Better still, he let Benzema take the penalty in the 89th minute when he was on a hat-trick and must have been looking to take home the match ball.

He realized that the goal will give more confidence to his fellow teammate, which in turn will help Benzema deliver better for Madrid for the rest of the season.

Over the years, Ronaldo has transformed from a star player to a motivating leader. It was visible in Euro 2016 with Portugal. And it has been visible over the years for Madrid. Many of his fellow players have said how much his presence adds to the side’s morale.

He doesn’t get enough credit or recognition for this aspect of his game, but Cristiano Ronaldo is more of a leader for his sides than his biggest competitor Messi has even been for his side.
