Injuries

Players are bound to get tired over the course of the season, especially those that play at a club like Real Madrid. With so many games and plenty of traveling, that can take a toll on the body. February saw a number of injuries in less than a weeks time.

More from The Real Champs

Midfielder Toni Kroos was the first to go down as he picked up a knock against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The German continued playing and saw out the match but will now be sidelined for a few weeks. Zidane is hopeful though that he will be back in time for the second-leg against PSG.

Kroos’ midfield partner Luka Modric also suffered an injury to his hamstring. Zidane did not share the details and severity of the injury but like Kroos, it is expected that he is to return in time for the PSG match in the Champions League.

Left back Marcelo suffered a similar injury to Luka Modric having hurt his hamstring. Again, the details of how it happened and how strenuous this may be was not disclosed. Of course, Zidane is hoping the wing-back will be able to play against PSG as his play in the first-leg was crucial to his success. Marcelo has now returned to training with the squad.

While these players have been injured, we have seen Zidane rotate the squad a little more giving plenty of minutes to Theo Hernandez, Lucas Vazquez, and Mateo Kovacic.

All three have proven themselves to be viable options in the unfortunate event that Madrid’s injured plays are unable to return.
