Midfield

Lucas Vazquez – 8

Lucas had a chance early on in the match as he was clear 1 vs. 1 with the goalie but was unable to pick his spot. Vazquez was handed another opportunity later in the first half,  but the goal was wrongfully disallowed and called offside.

The third time would be the charm as Lucas netted a goal in the 52nd minutes to make it 3-1 off a great assist from Ronaldo. The Spaniard has added to his amazing season just before leaving to join his national team; let’s hope he comes back and picks up where he left off.

Mateo Kovacic – 8.5

Mateo is looking to be an accelerated fine wine, he just gets better with every passing game. The Croatian has not gotten the most consistent of minutes since his arrival a couple of seasons ago but with injuries to his fellow countryman Luka Modric, he is certainly making a case for more minutes.

More from The Real Champs

Kova did well playing alongside Toni Kroos in the midfield helping carry the ball up the field and cutting through the lines of Girona.

Toni Kroos – 9

The German is now back in excellent health as he played the full 90 minutes against Girona. Kroos was masterful as he was the heartbeat of the attack for Real Madrid.

Toni had 115 touches and passed with an out of this world 97% accuracy. Kroos finished off his incredible night with two assists.

Marco Asensio – 8

Asensio was on fire once again at the Bernabéu with a great performance on the left wing, playing close to Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo. In the early stages of the game, Marco was one of most threatening as he moved swiftly through the pitch. He came close with a sweet curling free-kick but was unable to convert. Despite not getting on the score sheet, the wonderkid was extremely helpful in the win for Madrid.
